"Cody"
Approx Age: 2-3 years
Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever mix
Male, neutered

Cody was abandoned by his family on the streets of Oakland. At the Oakland shelter the staff felt he was too shy to do well in a shelter environment. A shelter volunteer took him under her wing and reached out to Dusty Paws to see if there was a foster home for him. The volunteer called him a diamond in the rough. Well, his foster family sees no rough edges in Cody; he is a sweet, gentle boy eager to be part of a family. He gets along with other dogs and cats. The family cat has convinced him that cats are really miniature panthers to be given a wide berth.

Cody loves to play with other dogs and with balls. He will fetch endlessly for you. When he arrived from the shelter he was already housetrained; he has had no accidents in his foster home. Cody walks well on the leash. Cody quickly learned the "sit" and "come" commands and seems eager to learn so he would probably do well in a dog training class. Cody loves to cuddle on the couch while you watch TV in the evenings. He’ll probably always be shy with strangers but he will blossom in a new home.
